G2 Ocean nominated for Ship Operator of the Year – Breakbulk

G2 Ocean is one of the 11 nominees for the Ship Operator of the Year – Breakbulk award at the Heavy Lift Awards 2025.

G2 Ocean’s nomination reflects the company’s ongoing efforts in the breakbulk and project cargo sector.

Since 2017, G2 Ocean has developed its presence in the open hatch segment, currently operating a fleet of around 120 vessels on more than 30 global trade routes. In 2024, the company transported over 27 million tonnes of cargo, a 9% increase from 2023, and completed 42,865 voyage days, up 5% from the previous year.

G2 Ocean delivers breakbulk and project cargoes safely, reliably and with attention to customer needs. Customer satisfaction is high and has seen a 5% rise from 2022 to 2024, according to a survey initiated by G2 Ocean and conducted by an independent external survey partner, illustrating the company's focus on continuous improvement.

G2 Ocean is also investing in sustainable solutions, including 10 ammonia/methanol-ready vessels scheduled to join the fleet between 2026 and 2029, as part of its commitment to responsible shipping practices.

A pool company

G2 Ocean, as a pool company, is responsible for the commercial management of the 90+ vessels delivered to the company’s fleet by its pool participants, Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group. G2 Ocean also charters vessels from third parties on a short-term basis. In 2024, on average 25 vessels were chartered in. The commercial management responsibilities of G2 Ocean include customer relationship management, trade management, port operations, cargo handling, business support, and business development.

The pool participants (Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group) receive a pool distribution from G2 Ocean dependent on the company’s financial performance and earnings for the provision of vessels.
