As a global shipping company, G2 Ocean’s business activities have environmental implications. We are committed to reducing our emissions and have implemented various measures to make a positive impact on the environment.

"Our goal is to play an active role in driving sustainable development in the shipping industry. Our climate ambitions demonstrate our commitment to leading G2 Ocean towards this goal."
By 2030,
we aim to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions per transported unit by a minimum of 40% compared to 2008 levels and to bring zero-emission capable vessels into our fleet.
By 2050,
we aim to operate a zero-emission fleet

Learn how we work to reduce our vessel emissions.
Thanks to a number of initiatives that we have implemented, we are making progress towards our climate ambitions.
For example, we are reducing speed on our vessels when laycan allows, partnering strategically with ports and service providers to improve port productivity and reduce wait times, optimising the environmental performance of our vessels by ensuring proper antifouling and taking corrective actions as needed, and performing various tests and analyses of alternative fuels on our vessels.
We are also proud to say that some of our vessels are already operating on biofuel produced from waste and residue streams, and in 2026, four ammonia-capable vessels will join our fleet.
We recognise that achieving our climate ambitions will require collaboration and partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and policymakers. That's why we're committed to working with others to drive sustainable development in the shipping industry and to create a more sustainable future for all.

In 2024, the EU Emission Trading System (ETS) was extended to include the maritime sector. The regulation aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from industries within the sector, including shipping.
View our EU ETS Brochure to learn more about the regulation and how it will impact shipping costs and operations.
