A 376 metric ton ultrafiltration unit, successfully transported from China to Brazil on the open-hatch vessel Star Lysefjord in September 2024, marked a new heavy-lift record for G2 Ocean.
G2 Ocean has once again demonstrated its expertise in handling heavy, large, and complex project cargoes by achieving another milestone: the transportation of a seawater treatment package featuring several highly complex components.
The highlight was the 376-metric-ton ultrafiltration unit, alongside a 322-metric-ton sulphate removal unit that measured 18.6 metres in height—the tallest cargo ever stowed underdeck on the Star Lysefjord.
The shipment was delivered to Brazil, where these massive units will be installed as topside modules on a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.
"Cargo of this nature is typically transported using deck carriers. By choosing our open hatch cargo vessel for the task, G2 Ocean showcased both bold innovation and technical expertise," said Edwin Peh, Project Cargo Director Pacific at G2 Ocean.
By entrusting such a challenging shipment to G2 Ocean, the customer has demonstrated a strong confidence in the company’s capabilities and a willingness to pursue innovative solutions for complex logistical needs.
"G2 Ocean’s proactive approach and innovative solutions in cargo shipping truly set the company apart in the industry,” said Aaron Ng, former Head of Project Development - Southeast Asia at Pentagon Freight Services (Singapore) Pte Ltd, adding:
“We see commitment to efficiency and forward-thinking strategies being evident in every aspect of their operations, and it significantly enhances the shipping experience for us at Pentagon Freight Services."
