G2 Ocean announces leadership changes

Arthur English will become Chair of the Board of G2 Ocean, and SK Lim the new CEO.
Since G2 Ocean’s establishment in 2017, the company has strengthened its global presence, commercial organisation and fleet, and built capabilities that support the company’s long-term strategy, all in line with its environmental, social and governance objectives.
After serving as CEO since 2020, Arthur English will join the G2 Ocean Board as Chair. At the same time, the Board is pleased to announce that SK Lim will be G2 Ocean’s new CEO. The changes take effect from January 1, 2027.
Continuing strong commercial leadership
Lim has served as Managing Director Pacific at G2 Ocean since March 2020, a period in which the Pacific region has become increasingly important to the company’s business.
“I have strong confidence in SK as the right person to lead G2 Ocean forward. He knows the business, our customers and our teams well, and has played an important role in strengthening our position in the Pacific region and developing new business,” says English.
“I look forward to taking on the role as CEO of G2 Ocean and continuing the company’s development together with our teams. I would also like to thank Arthur and the Board for their trust and support,” says Lim.

English to take CEO role in Gearbulk
Further, as of January 1, 2027, English will become CEO and Board Member of Gearbulk – G2 Ocean’s majority shareholder. English worked at Gearbulk from 1994 to 2017, after which he joined G2 Ocean as CCO until he took on the role of CEO in January 2020. His new role will support continuity, owner alignment and the company’s long-term strategic direction.
Kristian Jebsen will step down as Executive Chair of G2 Ocean and as Chair and CEO of Gearbulk. This follows a change in Gearbulk’s shareholding, after which MOL holds a 72% ownership in Gearbulk and Marubeni Corporation has 28%.
Continued growth
“We are grateful for the dedication and leadership Arthur English has provided G2 Ocean and look forward to continuing to have his expertise and support as Chair of the Board. We are also pleased SK Lim has accepted the position as CEO and are eager to see the company continue to grow and develop under his leadership,” says the owners, Gearbulk and Grieg Maritime Group, in a joint statement.
“The change in ownership and leadership is a natural step for the company, and I am confident that this new set-up will be of great benefit for future success. I would like to thank the organisation for its commitment and contributions over many years. G2 Ocean is well-positioned to face the challenges of the future,” says Kristian Jebsen.
“I look forward to continuing to support G2 Ocean. I would also like to thank Kristian Jebsen for his leadership and support throughout our company’s first decade,” says English.
